Rabbi Emily Cobert recently joined as Assistant Rabbi and Education Director of Temple Israel in Ridgewood. Previously she served as Rabbi of Temple Sinai in Middletown, NY.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Rabbi Cobert completed her Certificate in Pastoral and Counseling, her Master’s in Jewish Education and her rabbinical ordination at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. She earned her bachelor’s degree with honors in Jewish History and Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Rabbi Cobert is passionate about education and deeply cares about each individual. She wants to make sure everyone feels welcomed in a safe and warm environment and that everyone has a chance to get heard, seen and valued.
She is focused on enhancing educational experiences and fostering deep connections to Jewish heritage and values for families of all ages – leading family programming, B’nai Mitzvah preparation, Northern New Jersey Jewish Academy (NNJJA) Religious School (Grades K-7) and Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies (Grades 8-12).
Rabbi Cobert lives in Ridgewood with her husband, Andy, and their daughter, Sarah.
