Endowment Funds

Endowment Funds are one way in which our members and their loved ones can support Temple Israel & Jewish Community Center’s programs and interests for years to come. Endowment Funds are established to fund predetermined activities, and are then managed separately from the Temple Israel Operating Fund as permanent endowments to be used by the synagogue towards their stated purposes.

Past generous donors have allowed Temple Israel to establish the following Endowment Funds:

  • Amsterdam Family Endowment Fund – To provide siddurim to Temple Israel religious school students.
  • The Donald and Helen Fellows Memorial Holocaust Education Endowment Fund – To fund the education program portion of the Annual Holocaust Remembrance.
  • Phyllis Ann Zweig Friedman Endowment Fund – To provide scholarships to a Temple Israel high school student to attend an Israel/Eastern Europe educational program.
  • Temple Israel General Endowment Fund – To fund maintenance and/or capital improvement projects to Temple Israel properties.
  • David & Sara Goodman Endowment Fund – To fund supplemental Jewish experiences for Jewish youth.
  • David & Sally Kirsch Scholarship Endowment Fund – To provide scholarships to a religious school graduating student for continuing Jewish religious education.
  • Alexander & Sophie Puritz Memorial Endowment Fund – To fund the Temple Israel Annual Hanukkah Party, which shall include the distribution of silver dollars to all students.
  • Max Aaron Strachman Memorial Library Endowment Fund – To purchase educational materials for the library as well as fund library related educational events.
  • William & Rhoda Toonkel Jewish Music Endowment Fund – To promote Jewish musical education for the Temple Israel religious school, as well as other musical and cultural experiences for Temple Israel and Jewish Community Center.

Information about making additional donations to these Endowment Funds or about how to request scholarships, stipends, or other forms of funding from these Funds can be obtained from the synagogue office.

In addition, if you would like to learn about honoring or memorializing your loved ones by helping us to establish a new Endowment Funds, please contact our Endowments Chair via the synagogue office.

Sincerely,

James Goldfarb
