Monday Dec. 8: Liza Weisberg Will Speak on Zoom about “Know Your Rights” for Temple Israel of Ridgewood.

On Monday, December 8th at 6:00 p.m., Supervising Attorney with the ACLU of New Jersey Liza Weisberg will present “Know Your Rights: Protest Rights and Police Interactions.” The presentation will cover what your rights are, how to exercise them, and what to do if your rights are violated.

This presentation is part of Temple Israel & JCC’s Temple Talk series. It is on Zoom online only and will not be in person. Admission is free and everyone is invited. See www.synagogue.org for the Zoom information.

Liza Weisberg is a supervising attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey, where her work focuses on voting rights and issues impacting democracy. Weisberg previously worked as a staff attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center’s voting rights practice group, leading outreach, advocacy, and litigation aimed at protecting and expanding access to the ballot in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Weisberg also challenged unconstitutional jail conditions as a consulting attorney with the ACLU, organized voter protection programs as an attorney with the Democratic Party of Georgia during the 2020 election cycle, and clerked for the Honorable Kimba M. Wood in the Southern District of New York. Before clerking, Weisberg spent the first two years of her legal career as a Justice Catalyst fellow with the American Civil Liberties of New Jersey. Weisberg graduated from Harvard Law School, where she served as the Executive Director of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, represented clients in criminal show-cause hearings as a student attorney with Harvard Defenders, and was an editor of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review
