David Millman

Temple Israel, Ridgewood, NJ

October, 2021

Born and bred in Long Island, NY, David joined Temple Israel with his wife Terry and daughter Adina when they settled in northern NJ in 1997.

David served on the synagogue Ritual and Technology committees, then focused his efforts on the Brandeis Men’s Club. He spent two years as Secretary, one as Vice President, and was club President from 2004 to 2006. And then club co-President from 2008 to 2009, and then again from 2015 to 2017. David was honored as the Men’s Club Man of the Year in 2007 and continues to remain active in all aspects of club leadership and programming.

Following his first administration with the Brandeis Men’s Club, David rose through the ranks of the Northern NJ Region of Men’s Clubs. He served as Trustee and Vice President, and was recognized as the Regional Man of the Year in 2012. He continues to remain active as a Trustee, and has regularly attended all the bi-annual FJMC Conventions and NNJR Retreats since 2003. Back at Temple Israel, David has regularly served on the Board of Directors: each time as Men’s Club President, chairing the House committee, and currently chairing the Ritual Committee. He is a “Shabbos regular” who often chants the haftarah, leads a service and occasionally leyns torah.

David’s engineering career saw lengthy stints at Bell Labs and Pitney Bowes, then he jumped around between failed internet startup companies, and in 2002 he settled in at Siemens Healthineers in Tarrytown, NY, writing specifications for their medical diagnostic instruments. When not involved with family, synagogue and work, David’s other passions include Yankee baseball, poker, volleyball, home improvement and automobile maintenance. He putts around at golf once a year with the Men’s Club (pun intended), hits the beach over the summer, and looks forward to retirement and travel.
