  22nd\, at 8:00 p.m.\, Alain L. Sanders\, Associate Professor Emeritus of 
 Political Science at Saint Peter's University\, will discuss “The 2024 P
 olitical Landscape: Navigating Rapids” at Temple Israel of Ridgewood and
  on Zoom.\n\nProfessor Sanders’s talk will look at where things stand\, 
 as the country plunges into a volatile election featuring a criminally-ind
 icted former president\, an unpopular incumbent president\, a dysfunctiona
 l House majority\, two controversial major foreign wars\, less-than-reliab
 le election polling\, hot button issues\, and a hyper-polarized electorate
 .\n\n\n\nAlain L. Sanders is Associate Professor Emeritus of Political Sci
 ence at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City\, New Jersey\, and a TV 
 and radio political commentator on domestic and international political is
 sues.\n\nAt Saint Peter's University\, Professor Sanders taught a wide var
 iety of courses on American politics for 19 years\, including classes on t
 he presidency\, Congress\, the courts\, constitutional law\, campaigns and
  elections\, and the mass media. He also served as the University's pre-la
 w adviser\, as an internship adviser\, and as a member of several Universi
 ty academic committees.\n\nPrior to joining the Saint Peter’s University
  faculty\, Professor Sanders was a professional journalist for 21 years. H
 e worked as a senior reporter for TIME Magazine and wrote stories for ever
 y major news section of the magazine\, including the Nation\, World\, and 
 Law sections. He was one of the first reporters to secure and have publish
 ed an exclusive in-depth interview with a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Cour
 t: Justice Lewis Powell. He was also a member of the original writing team
  for the pioneering\, irreverent\, humor-in-the-news Chronicles and Notebo
 ok sections\, as well as a writer for TIME’s early Internet site.\n\nThr
 oughout his career as a journalist\, professor\, and now professor emeritu
 s\, Professor Sanders has appeared on numerous U.S. radio and television p
 rograms and news reports\, locally and around the country\, to discuss and
  analyze U.S. and international political developments. During his years a
 t TIME Magazine\, he was also a weekly radio commentator on American news 
 developments for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Australian ra
 dio stations 2KY\, 4BC and 2NC.\n\nA lawyer\, Professor Sanders practiced 
 briefly with a New York City law firm early in his career. He holds an A.B
 . degree from Princeton University’s School of Public and International 
 Affairs and a J.D. degree from the Columbia University School of Law. He w
 as born in Paris\, France\, and he is fluent in French.
