Rabbi Rebecca Gould

I am looking forward to teaching new perspectives on community, faith, Torah, well-being, and unity.  I am a rabbi, educational leader, social justice/community service leader, teacher and public speaker.  I have worked in leadership positions in synagogues, schools, and non-profits for Jewish, interfaith and secular organizations.  I have experience with children, teens, young adults, adults, and elders.  I have worked with Conservative, Reconstructionist, and Reform communities. Rabbi Akiva teaches that the great principle of the Torah is to love your neighbor as yourself (Jerusalem Talmud, Nedarim 30b). How do we do this? By loving ourselves, accepting and caring for those in our community, and reaching out to those in need. We do this in partnership with G-d and in partnership with our congregational community. Please join us for services and programs and be part of an exciting and renewing Jewish life!

I am inspired by the Jewish understandings of rachamim (compassion), ethical living, and wisdom. I love the Reconstructionist perspective that Judaism evolves and changes to honor tradition and to move forward according to the needs of contemporary Jews. Modern-day spirituality can be discovered in traditional Jewish teachings; when we bring those teachings into our current day lives, we become rooted in who we truly are as Jews and our community is strengthened. May we go into this new journey together with new listening, joy, rachamim, and gemilut chasidim (loving kindness).

I look forward to connecting with you and meeting with you. I can be reached at (703) 380-2837 and rabbigould@synagogue.org (I am in the office three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday, and here on Shabbat and holidays.) All the very best.

Shalom u’vrachah/ Peace and blessings,

Rabbi Rebecca Gould
