Just when we were
wondering where summer went, fall flew by and left in a lurch.
It's already time for Chanukah. The Men's Club will have serving
utensils in hand for this year's party to serve lots of latkes with all
the fixin's on December 17th. Be there, be hungry! Denis

REGIONAL
MAN OF THE YEAR DINNER
We all had a great time honoring our Man of the Year Bob
Rohrberger at this year's regional Man of the Year dinner at the
Wilshire Grand. As is our tradition, food, drink, and
merriment were the order of the vening. Thanks to all who
came to honor such a worthy Man of the Year. |

YOUTH OF THE YEAR
It
is my great honor to name Shoshana Smolen as
this year's Youth of the Year Award recipient.
Shoshana is no stranger to anyone who
congregates the halls of Temple Israel. In
high school, Shoshana was a member of the
Madrichim (Counselors) leadership program.
She was founder and head of the committee to
help victims of the 2004 tsunami; she helped
raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina and
went on a five-day mission to Louisiana and
Mississippi. She attended the North
American Association for Jewish High Schools
Leadership Conference in LA. Shoshana has
been a teacher's aide at Temple Israel since she
was in 8th grade. She is a member of USY
and has been on the board for three years.
Shoshana can be frequently heard chanting
Torah and Haftarah or leading a
service. I have listed only a small
portion of Shoshana's many accomplishments.
It will be an honor to present Shoshana with
this award during Youth Shabbat. |

TO SKI OR NOT TO SKI?
The BMC is hitting the
slopes. January 14th is the date for our first annual ski trip to Belleayre
Mountain. Price is $58 for lift and
transportation (a regular Hunter Mountain lift
ticket alone is $57). $22 for rentals if
necessary. Lessons are included. Space
is limited. Payment in full must be received
in order to reserve your spot! Bus to the
mountain will leave from the synagogue parking lot
at 6:30 AM and return approximately 6:30 PM.
